Selecting the right gasket material is essential to achieving reliable sealing, consistent performance, and reduced maintenance over the life of industrial equipment. At Elastostar Rubber Corporation, we often help customers
Material-related failures rarely begin in the field. In most cases, they originate during the design phase, when early assumptions shape how a product will perform over the years of use.
The silicone material selected for a critical application determines how reliably a system performs under pressure, heat, chemicals, and continuous operation. When purity, curing quality, or mechanical behavior is inconsistent,
Silicone rubber is widely used for its flexibility, durability, and temperature resistance, yet many production issues stem from early selection decisions. Silicone rubber selection errors often occur during the design and
Learn why long-term sealing performance matters more than initial specs. Explore aging, compression set, and real-world factors affecting seal reliability. When selecting seals, decisions are often based on datasheets and
Process engineers follow a structured inspection before approving any silicone component specifications. Whether it is tubing, O-rings, gaskets, or custom extruded profiles, the first step is understanding the material’s behavior
The performance of a silicone component is shaped by every stage of its lifecycle. From installation and early handling to long-term exposure and eventual failure, each phase influences how the
OEM assemblies demand components that reduce weight without compromising protection, especially in compact or thin-wall designs. This is where lightweight silicone seals, including silicone sponge and silicone foam, offer a major advantage.
Designing sealed enclosures becomes challenging when internal pressure changes faster than the structure can adjust. As temperature rises or equipment cycles on and off, trapped air expands and creates closed-cell
Every modern product demands materials that can perform reliably under pressure from extreme temperatures, constant movement, and strict regulatory environments. This is why engineering-grade silicone has become a go-to choice
